Location, Location, Location!

No need to choose between the Mountains and Main Street, Laurel Ridge offers both!
Just off Exit 100 of the Smoky Mountain Expressway in Waynesville, the Laurel Ridge community
offers the peaceful serenity and cooler climates of the mountains without sacrificing any conveniences
you desire. Downtown Waynesville is a charming town where visitors experience a small, hometown
feel while enjoying unique shopping and a blossoming arts community. Fine restaurants abound along
with the Haywood Arts Regional Theatre (HART) .  Waynesville is the birthplace of the internationally
renowned Folkmoot Festival, where people from all over the world share their culture. Considered by
many a suburb of Asheville, Waynesville  offers year-round enjoyment, unlike many of the neighboring
mountain communities which shut down for the late fall and winter months.

Haywood Regional Hospital/ a Duke LifePoint Hospital is just ten minutes from the Woody Lane home at Exit 104. Duke LifePoint Healthcare is a joint venture of Duke University Health System, Inc. and LifePoint Hospitals.

Asheville, just thirty minutes away, offers first class medical care using state of the art technologies and research. In fact, one of the top industries in Asheville is the healthcare sector, so Asheville is truly a medical and health center for the Western North Carolina region. Because the city of Asheville is very eclectic, its healthcare options are very eclectic as well. In Asheville you'll find a variety of healthcare providers from which to choose. While Asheville not only has the premier medical facility in the region, Mission Hospitals, there are also more traditional and holistic options for medical care.

State of the art veterinary care for your pets also exists from the excellent primary veterinarians in Waynesville to the dynamic board-certified group of Upstate Veterinary Specialists in Asheville/Greenville to the Regional Emergency Animal Care Hospital (R.E.A.C.H.) and Asheville Veterinary Specialists (A.V.S.)

Looking for outdoor activities, a short ten minute drive off Exit 102 takes you to beautiful Lake Junaluska with it's 3-5 mile paved walking/jogging path around the lake and many other outdoor activities.

Go ten minutes in the other direction on Exit 102 and you'll find the town's tennis courts, recreation center, jogging track, walking trail, dog park, skateboarding park, and so much more! You'll also find one of the nicest supermarkets in the area, the Ingles Store on Russ Avenue, with an incredible deli, local produce, a huge organic selection, and super friendly employees and a super clean store!

Can't do without a trip to a home improvement store, you'll find Lowe's and Tractor Supply off Exit 104. Exit 98 has a new retail center with Best Buy, Michael's, PetSmart, Belk's, and Super Wal-mart, among others.

Hiking, fly fishing, snow skiing, white water rafting and sight-seeing are favored activities for tourists and residents alike as the Blue Ridge Parkway, Smoky Mountain National Park, and The Pisgah National Forest border the area.  A forty five minute drive takes you to the best Pigeon River whitewater in Tennessee, the Nantahala River, tubing in Deep Creek in Bryson City, the incredible "pink beds" trail in the Pisgah National Forest, the trails of the arboretum or the Biltmore in Asheville. Snow tubing and skiing at Cataloochee Ski resort takes about 20 minutes. We have spent 7 years vacationing in the area and have only discovered a small part of the area.

Resort destinations such as Gatlinburg and Cherokee are all within driving distance. In Cherokee, be sure to visit Harrah’s Casino and enjoy a show. With close proximity to the Asheville Airport and I-40, as well as quick access to larger cities like Atlanta, Charlotte, Knoxville and Winston-Salem, Laurel Ridge is a perfect destination for your family.
